[Mihawk is currently standing to the side of the main crossroad near the Good Spirits Bar, absently looking around and watching people fuss about their way what with the holiday spirit and such.]

Does anyone happen to have an estimate of how long will this glittery, colorful, over the top... celebration is going to last?

[Because he's seriously considering hitting the forest for a while until you people and your lights and trees and holiday cheer are done making him vaguely ill. And given how disgruntled he sounds, you can totally tell by his tone alone.

[And that's about all Perona can take before she loses it all over again, howling with laughter and falling onto her bed in hysterics. At least that muffles some of her laughter...?

[Mihawk gives her a slightly blank look for a moment there, taking the time to bask in that familiar terror. It was oddly comforting to see there were still corners of the world that still worked like he remembered they should, particularly considering how much a certain someone delighted in trampling all over his person, metaphorically and otherwise.]

[He offered Norma a small shrug of his shoulders, expression somewhat unpleasant. Then again, this being Mihawk, that was an understatement.]

[~~She is so grounded, indeed.~~ Mihawk ignores her laughter for a moment or two, before he clears his throat meaningfully.]

[There's enough warning in that to remind a certain bratty young lady who between them is a bratty young lady and who's the bloody Shichibukai.]

It makes more sense to celebrate the New Year than this.

[Guess who does in fact celebrate New Year? Yeah.]

[Daria's not the most holiday spirited, either, but she does have the answer to the question.]

If you mean Christmas, it pretty much starts in October and ends in January these days.

[Flatly.]

...that's four months of celebration.

[He doesn't need to point out how stupid that idea is, does he?]

Yes, but without those four months, stores would be unable to gouge hard-working people out of excessive amounts of their cash before the new year. [The sarcasm makes this the exact opposite of a ringing endorsement.]

[If it's sarcasm you want to match, he'll be very glad to entertain you.]

I guess the trick is to just bear it. I don't grin.

What do you have against it? [The words may seem confrontational, but given her own opinion, they're probably not meant to be.]

I am fairly certain the grin is optional, when it comes to bearing with something.

[He certainly doesn't grin and bear anything. After a moment, there's a cranky sigh.]

I dislike crowds.

[It's Mihawk's tone alone that lets Perona know she's crossed the thin line of his patience, and her laughter stops almost instantly. Looking into her journal and seeing him just glowering at her only cements the nagging voice in the back of her mind--

Ah...ahaha...ha. She's just gonna shrink down a little bit, and avert her eyes away from the angry swordsman. And very possibly maybe make plans to leave the community building for the night and return tomorrow.]

The crowds don't really get thick until December hits. Except for Black Friday.

[Oh, god, that voice in the back of her head is speaking to her again. This time with something a little bit different:

Perona utters a quiet whine, and her head disappears from the journal camera again, as she slinks down her bed. Maybe if she just...j-just quietly leaves? Quietly leaves and doesn't come back for a few days? Give Mihawk some time to simmer and at the same time come up with a hell of a good peace offering/Christmas present to make up for this? Something that he likes...

Something that isn't a sword, knife, or variation of preferably.

But yes, the shuffling of many layers of fabric and quick little footsteps are all that Mihawk will hear before the feed goes stagnant. She made a not-so-stealthy escape. See you in a bit, papa. 8|7]

[The furthest thing from joyful, it is him. He encapsulates the anti-joy. We're talking quantium levels of unjoyfulness right now.]

[Petty as it might be, Mihawk does not take kindly to people abusing his indulgence, and he certainly indulges the pink-haired disaster more often than he ought to. It's the dangers of familiarity, and one more reason not to overindulge in it.

However, he's fairly satisfied with her reaction, at least for now. He'll chew her out for it later, but for now, he's got migraine-inducing lights and christmas cheer to deal with.

But yes, Perona, you are in trouble.]

I wonder if it gets that bad here. From what everyone says, things are pretty different.

[Give it twenty minutes, a half hour tops. Norma's easy to scare, but she bounces back with just as much ease and she can put on one hell of a facade. Thankfully, Mihawk may be spared her rather, uh...clingy side. There are certain people Norma just won't latch onto out of sheer "nopenopenope"-ness.

But she gives a bright smile at the prospect of going inside and bounces right on into the bar like it were made of candy and gumdrops, shedding her many layers of clothing and fixing her hair. Hat-head in the worst okayokay. At least she looks nice under that shell of coats and sweaters. Work wear is "refined", yupyup.]

So, that's one glass of...uhh--[Snap!] San Guido Sassicaia~!

[She's right, right? Tell her she's right. Because that's what she's going to fetch whether it's right or not.]

[She's right and he sees no reason to comment on it, though he does watch her bouncy display with some inwardly amused impassiveness. He supposed someone who works in a bar ought to be able to be that cheerful, but he personally keeps himself away from the trap of bartender ears.

He follows after her at a sedate pace, though he heaves a soft sigh at being inside. Familiarity, after all, is not something to be scoffed at. He takes a seat by the bar, taking time to put Yoru by his side, and leans on his arms a little to watch her busy herself around.]

Regardless of circumstance, people, in my experience, remain people.

[Whether that is a good thing or not, however, is entirely up for debate.]

I'm not arguing that. But if most of these people have never heard of the holiday they're supposed to be trampling the stores over, then it might not happen.

Some need only the barest excuse to go on celebrating though, even if they don't understand the significance of something.

[Assuming it has any significance in the first place. People just like parties, he supposes.]

I guess we'll see. When I can't get home because I'm caught up in a parade route on the way, I'll start to worry about it. [This has actually happened to her before. She forgot it was Homecoming.]

...aren't parade routes public knowledge?

[You know, so people can go see the parade? How do you get caught in one?]
